There was little to be seen this morning. However I did see a lizard towards the end of my walk – but he did not seem enthusiastic about getting his photo taken. I also saw a small grasshopper. I heard the grasshopper singing and then spent ages trying to home in on him. The red bugs are now getting more scarce.

After an unproductive start I began to see a little wildlife. This morning’s challenge was quite a strong wind – which required me to give support to flowers, twigs, and branches before taking my photos. Towards the end of my walk a long nosed whip snake appeared. He seemed content to watch me until I stroked his back – and then he was off.

We are continuing to get light overnight rain showers. The effects can be seen in the lush vegetation bordering my blog walk. Also, there is much more insect life to be found, and I can hear bird songs. Today’s star was a large black bee with light blue eyes. I also found a strange little bug that appeared to be suspended in jelly.

What a difference a day can make. I even found a golden tree snake. This guy seemed very curious about me and came down “to check me out”. He apparently did not like what he found because he soon went back up the tree. I also saw a lizard – but he too fled the scene. And, there were a few small butterflies and spiders.

just after setting out I found a small gecko sitting on a wall. He stayed very still – permitting me to get quite close. However when I pressed the shutter button he moved. I tried several times and the same thing happened (I guess he didn’t like the flash). At the half way point the rain came on. With camera in one hand and umbrella in the other I soldiered on.

Today I present the second batch of photographs taken on Buddha Hill. The place was quieter than usual since this is not the peak tourist season. There was however a good collection of stray dogs. I also found some red weaver ants – and one bit me on the leg while I was focusing my camera on his buddies.

In view of recent low wildlife sightings along my blog walk – I made another camera trip to Buddha Hill. There are always lots of interesting things to see, and there are great views from the top. I went at 5pm when there were lots of wheezing joggers and stray dogs to be seen.

A Mixed Bag 4

I happened to be downtown with my camera at noon yesterday (not really a good time to take photographs). As I often do, I wandered around the Wat Chaimongkron temple compound. There were lots of pigeons to be seen, plus lots of turtles out sunning themselves. An observation balloon from “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” could be seen floating in the background. I also took a stroll along the street outside and photographed reflections in shop windows (I like the effect of images merging together).

The whip snake has moved on. I thoroughly searched the location where I had last seen him without success. I didn’t make my usual bee sightings either (with the exception of a tiny greenish bee I discovered inside a small flower). A few millipedes were still out marching on the pavement. I photographed a butterfly with rather tattered wings. And I took a few shots of posing bugs.

We had another overnight rain shower, and this had the millipedes out marching along the pavement. Yesterday’s whip snake was still in the same location. I tried pulling his tail – and he stuck out his tongue and turned a brighter shade of green. He was a bit suspicious of me so he brought his head round to watch me and find out what was happening. And there were still the bees and bugs waiting to be photographed.
